The Heron’s Flight

Since 2002, each year Double Edge presents an annual site-specific Summer Spectacle at their Farm Center in Ashfield, Massachusetts. These events are site-specific and move throughout the grounds of the Farm Center, incorporating myth and folktale with daring circus arts.

The 2024 Summer Spectacle “The Heron’s Flight,” directed by Jennifer Johnson and Travis Coe, is a new performance which travels through the gardens, barns, and waterways of DE’s Farm Center. A great blue heron perches silently in a tree, then breaks the surface of the cool green water. Familiar and mythological creatures gather for a Midsummer Feast – an explosive celebration of love, dance, and flight. Walk with them toward transformation in an impossible world as they embrace the knowledge of the land – that each season of life is beloved.

For Previews, Double Edge is offering a special Pay What You Wish option. By removing the financial barrier to attendance, they hope everyone who wishes to can engage with this work.
